Deadpool & Wolverine continues its impressive box office run, amassing an estimated $824.1 million worldwide through its second weekend. The film’s haul includes $395.6 million from domestic markets and $428.5 million internationally. With this total, Deadpool & Wolverine has already surpassed the earnings of its predecessors, Deadpool ($783 million) and Deadpool 2 ($786 million), making it the third highest-grossing R-rated film of all time and the second highest global studio release of 2024.
Disney’s latest blockbuster has been particularly strong internationally, where it remains the top non-local film across all markets. The film experienced a 41% drop in international earnings from its debut, yet it continues to lead in numerous countries, including Lebanon and Turkey, where it holds the record for the highest-grossing superhero film.
Top international markets for Deadpool & Wolverine include China ($45.2 million), the UK ($42.4 million), Mexico ($32.8 million), Australia ($24.6 million), and Germany ($19.1 million). The film’s success in IMAX has also been notable, with a global total of $64.5 million, including $30 million from overseas.
In other box office news, Despicable Me 4 from Illumination/Universal has surpassed Dune: Part Two to become the second biggest film of the year internationally, with a total of $438.3 million and a global cume of $752.2 million. The film added $26.9 million from 80 markets in its latest frame, outpacing both Minions: The Rise of Gru and Despicable Me 3 at the same point in their runs.
Pixar’s Inside Out 2 continues its stellar performance with an additional $20.5 million from 52 markets, pushing its international total to $928.2 million and its global total to $1.555 billion. The film had a strong opening in Japan, coming in at No. 2 overall for the weekend with an estimated $4.9 million. This marks the second-highest opening weekend for a non-local title in 2024 and the second-highest Pixar opening ever.
Lastly, Twisters, from Universal/Warner Bros/Amblin, added $7.5 million from 77 markets, bringing its international cume to $78.8 million and its worldwide total to $274.4 million. The film is holding up well in key markets, including the UK, France, and Germany.
Disney’s Deadpool & Wolverine has not only dominated the box office but has also played a significant role in pushing The Walt Disney Studios past the $3 billion mark globally for the year, with an estimated total of $3.109 billion through Sunday.
