It appears that Glee might undergo some changes, with rumors agog that the popular show is likely to wind up its Lima, Ohio operations and move to New York for Season 5. Even season 6 is expected to move to New York permanently. Reports say that Glee producers Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan are contemplating to take the show to New York following the death of Cory Monteith. The creators are also discussing which characters need to be moved from Lima, Ohio to New York, where prominent characters such as Kurt, Rachel and Santana already live. There are also reports that Lea Michele and Chris Colfer characters have already made a move, with more New Directions members expected to follow suit.

Significant Series

Season 5, which was commissioned in April 2013, is the first that doesn’t feature Monteith, who died just ahead of the commencement of the production. The season also assumes significance for featuring the 100th episode of the series that focuses on the New Directions glee club at the William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. What differentiates Season 5 – wherein the club and its alumni are engaged in dealing with several social issues – from the previous ones is that it continues the school year that started in Season 4. Monteith’s character, Finn Hudson, happened to the focus of third episode “The Quarterback.”

The prime characters of Season 5 comprise of glee club director Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), glee club members Artie Abrams (Kevin McHale), Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss), Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet), Tina Cohen-Chang (Jenna Ushkowitz), Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera), Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer), and Rachel Berry (Lea Michele). School principal Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) is also a central character in the season. Characters that are elevated to the prime cast in the season include Jake Puckerman (Jacob Artist), Ryder Lynn (Blake Jenner), Kitty Wilde (Becca Tobin), Wade Adams (Alex Newell), and Marley Rose (Melissa Benoist). Making guest presence, among others, are Mark Salling, Harry Shum Jr, Amber Riley, Brittany Pierce, Heather Morris, Mike Chang, and Noah Puckerman.

Moving to Russia?

Meanwhile, there are also reports which point to Murphy weighing the pros and cons of moving gay character Kurt Hummel to Russia, with the series remaining focused on highlighting the gay rights issue in that country. The reports say that Glee producers are evolving three possible ideas, which includes taking Kurt to Russia. The third option, which pertains to Season 6, is yet to be disclosed, although it’s widely anticipated that it will include the high school. This means Season 6, the last of the series, will not be as planned earlier and will have a different end. Although Murphy had gone on record saying that a major part of the season would concentrate on Rachel’s affinity with Finn, the death of Monteith has forced the creator to work out new ideas.

The producers of Glee. who are now trying their best to make the finale quite appealing, must feel comfortable as they have various endgame possibilities before them. However, by all means, it appears that the final season will move to New York.
