Hollywood is mourning today over the sudden death of 31 year-old cast member from “Glee”, Cory Monteith. His lifeless body was found by the hotel staff Sunday morning a little past noon when Monteith missed his checkout time at his Vancouver hotel, Fairmont Pacific Rim. The 31 year old “Glee” cast member had been struggling with substance abuse since he was a teen at the early age of 13 and had been an uphill battle since then. He checked himself into rehab at the age of 19 the first time and earlier this year he did so again.
Monteith played “Finn” on the hit series “Glee” and became a crucial character on the show after he sang on the popular cover of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”. On set, sparks flew when he met one of his co-star’s, Lea Michele, and the two began dating in early 2012. They both quickly became one of Hollywood’s favorite couple and were constantly seen out in the streets of L.A. together. Monteith was also a favorite of many of Hollywood’s A-List celebrities and they’ve been all tweeting and posting on various social media sites non-stop.
Selena Gomez was one of the first celebrities to tweet a picture of her and Monteith hugging and wrote “’This hurts. I love you Cory. Rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.’” following the news of his death. Celebrities that were added to the list of Monteith’s family and friends well-wishing include Ellen DeGeneres, Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato, Katie Perry, and Lance Bass to name a few. His family has not come out to speak about their sudden loss and neither has girlfriend Lea Michele. E! News says that a rep for Monteith said “We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.”
Hollywood has come together along with the “Glee” cast to give Cory Monteith’s family and friends their support. Although it is unclear what exactly caused Monteith’s death, following today’s scheduled autopsy, the results will give his loved ones more closure on why he died.
