The New York Giants’ new offense finally began to click on Sunday and now it will be on display again. The Giants (1-2) visit the Washington Redskins (1-2) on Thursday Night Football in an NFC East division game.
Eli Manning got a whole lot better just as the Giants’ running game exploded. Rashad Jennings ran for 176 yards in the win against the Houston Texans, the single best game in the NFL thus far. The entire focus in Washington is (as it always seems to be) on the quarterback.
Kirk Cousins has played impressively since replacing the injured Robert Griffin III. When Griffin recovers from his ankle injury – and that could be eight to 10 weeks – the real fun will begin. Trade one? The other? Hoo boy.
The other continuing Washington problem? Special teams. The Redskins gave up a touchdown on a 102-yard kickoff return to the Eagles.
What we’ll be watching on Sunday
Philadelphia Eagles (3-0) at San Francisco 49ers (1-2): The 49ers haven’t scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter yet this season. The Eagles have been dynamic in the second half of games. They’ve trailed by 10 points or more in each of their victories. Injuries have wrecked Philly’s offensive line.
Green Bay Packers (1-2) at Chicago Bears (2-1): The Packers’ offense has struggled and they have no running game. The Bears can’t protect QB Jay Cutler and their secondary has been shredded by injuries.
New Orleans Saints (1-2) at Dallas Cowboys (2-1): Dallas rallied from 21 points down to beat the St. Louis Rams and has been better defensively than expected. The Saints started slowly but are rounding into their potent form. This should be fun as the Sunday Night Football feature.
