This launch will be the biggest new drink in the last 10 years
Coca-cola is known for its sugary and caffeine-loaded drinks, but their next product line is going to change all of this. Coca-cola just announced their next big project, a line of sparkling water/seltzer.
This new project is hopeful to bring new life to Coke’s water business and let’s face it sparkling water is becoming more popular than soda. The new brand of sparkling water will be called “AHA” and is set to launch by March 2020.
So far they have eight flavors for the new product line including Black Cherry Coffee, Apple Ginger, Lime Watermelon, Blueberry Pomegranate, Orange Grapefruit, Citrus Green Tea, Strawberry Cucumber, and Peach Honey. Along with the new sparkling water line, they will also be developing flavors for their flat water line, Smartwater.
Though there will be less sugar in this line of drinks, AHA will give a jolt of energy with 30 mg of caffeine. The “hydration” a.k.a. water portion of Coke’s business has seen low volume sales in the last nine months (as of September 27) and Coke’s North America water and enhanced water business only increased by 1% in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, their competition, PepsiCo, experienced a surge in sales of bottled waters in the double-digits in the third quarter. According to Coke’s data, its water business is the second-highest-grossing profit margin in its beverage portfolio.
