Revolutionary Car For Wheelchairs
It has three wheels and takes up half a parking space. This car is designed for people in wheelchairs.
It enables a person to drive the car with just their hands. The hand controls give them their independence. Toyota’s ‘i-Road’ is a three wheeled electric car that balances itself to evenly distribute the driver’s weight. The vehicle automatically selects the optimal lean angle when cornering and maintains stability while going up slopes or on uneven areas.
It takes up half the parking space of a normal car and is capable of driving around 30 miles on one charge. But hand controls are portable and they fasten to the pedal bracket. Therefore the person can use one hand to accelerate and brake using your thumb. They steer with one hand and do the gas and brakes with the other. The car is a part of Toyota’s ‘Start Your Impossible’ initiative, which aims to provide mobility for all. There’s also an unmodified version of the ‘iRoad’ that Toyota says could be used for car sharing to increase urban mobility.
