Prime Minister Teresa May Speaks
Prime Minister Theresa May had a lot to say this past week as she revealed her detailed ‘Brexit’ plan for EU nationals who are in Britain. She spoke in the House of Commons in London as the world listened. And she wanted to make one thing very clear. As they prepare to exit the European Union she wants everyone to know, especially the European nations who are living in Britain, that they will not have to pack their bags.
“The EU citizens make a valuable contribution to the United Kingdom, to our economy, our public services, and our everyday lives. They are an integral part of the economic, social, and cultural fabric of our country. And I have always been clear that I want to protect their rights.”
Prime Minister Theresa May then went on to say that those who have been living in the country legally and continuously for five years would be eligible to apply for “settled status.” This would allow them to stay in the country for good. They will receive rights to health, education, welfare and even pension benefits! For more details be sure to check out the video above!
