A Sports Filled Weekend
Let’s start the Weekend TV Six-Pack off right – with two NBA playoff games on Friday night. Why wait? Let’s begin our extended period of inertia as soon as possible. Plop your heiner in the recliner and crack open the Weekend TV Six-Pack.
First, the NBA. The Cleveland Cavaliers, who haven’t had too huge a challenge from the Detroit Pistons in going up 2-0 in their playoff series, move on to Detroit’s turf (7 p.m., ESPN).
Get yourself a quick bathroom break right after Cavs-Pistons, because the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies follow at 9:30 p.m. (ESPN). The Spurs are always worth watching. The Spurs hold a 2-0 series lead.
With any luck, you will have a second TV in the room or be in a sports bar. Friday night is just full of fun. In the NHL playoffs, the Washington Capitals can close out the Philadelphia Flyers in DC in Game 5. This one is on NBC Sports at 7 p.m. At 8 p.m., the New York Islanders and Florida Panthers, tied 2-2 in a closely-played series, get after it in Sunrise, Florida.
We’ll send you back to the NBA playoffs on Saturday for the Miami Heat-Charlotte Hornets series. The Heat lead 2-0 and Dwyane Wade has been outstanding, averaging 22 points. This one is at 5:30 p.m. on TNT.
If you’ve missed any of the above, please consider the Golden State Warriors-Houston Rockets meeting on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. (ABC) as the replacement item in your viewing plan. The Warriors are up 2-1 but lost on Thursday night with Steph Curry (ankle) sitting out.
Your Sunday treat? College lacrosse. It’s No. 5 Maryland (10-2) vs. Ohio State (6-7). Why lacrosse, and why this game? Because I said so, and Maryland has won nine in a row and is my alma mater. It’s at 7 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
As always, watch responsibly.
