All The Details On The Wonder Woman Sequel
When DC’s Wonder Woman was released just over a year ago on June 2nd, 2017, a wave of excitement was brought back to the DC Comics Universe. The female-driven project was headed by director Patty Jenkins and stared 33-year old Gal Gadot. The film reached heights and earnings that no other female directed movie had achieved previous.
The movie was not only a box office success, it was a wave of empowerment. Little girls now had a superhero to look up to that wasn’t a stereotypical male. Gal Gadot brought elegance, grace, and power to the big screen, and now, she’s about to do it again.
Wonder Woman 1984, the confirmed title to the sequel, is already in production. With a release date set for November 1st, 2019, the movie is set to take place in the 80s and have a focus on Kristin Wiig’s villain The Cheetah. Chris Pine and Pedro Pascal are also set to make appearances in the film.
Thinking back to the original film which was set in World War I, Gadot’s Wonder Woman was an independent force to be reckoned with. In the most iconic scene, she was seen charging across “No Man’s Land,” deflecting bullets while simultaneously ignoring all the men who told her not to do it. If that doesn’t send the message that woman can do anything, I don’t know what does.
I’m certain more moments of empowerment will appear in the sequel next year.
