Netflix Documentary Prompts Interest In Area 51

A Facebook group with hundreds of thousands of members plans to “storm” Area 51, a heavily guarded military base in Nevada, looking for evidence of aliens. Area 51 has long been the subject of conspiracy theories and rumors about extraterrestrial life. Many believe the U.S. military keeps information about UFOs and alien encounters locked up at Area 51.

“We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Let’s see them aliens,” the Facebook group, which is planning the event for September 20 of this year, says in its description. “Naruto running” is a unique running style from the Japanese anime series Naruto, in which the arms are kept behind the back to decrease wind resistance.

However, spokespeople for the U.S. military have a decisive message for the group: Don’t even think about it.

“Area 51 is an open training range for the US Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces. The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets,” Laura McAndrews, a spokeswoman for the Air Force, said in a statement.

The Air Force has also implied that if a large group does attempt to breach security at Area 51, they might use force to deter intruders.
