Nothing Better Than A Sports Packed Weekend
We’ll be cracking open that Weekend TV Six-Pack on Friday night. Why wait to pop the top?
The New York Yankees and Houston Astros play Game 6 of their American League Championship Series at 8 p.m. ET in Houston, with the visitors on a three-game winning streak and able to close out the ‘stros. FS1 shows this one, and a Game 7 (if necessary) at the same time on Saturday. The winner of the ALCS goes on to meet the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.
What else will keep your heiner and your recliner merged? Ah, the pageantry and spectacle of college football.
Last week, none of the teams in the AP Top 25 played each other. That is not the case now. No. 19 Michigan (5-1) challenges No. 2 Penn State (6-0) in a Big Ten showdown set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on ABC. At the same time, over on NBC, two schools with distant dreams of the College Football Playoffs also meet at 7:30 p.m. So you can opt for No. 11 USC (6-1) at No. 13 Notre Dame (5-1). No two-loss team has ever made it to the CFP.
The top NFL offering is a rematch of Super Bowl LI, the one in which the New England Patriots overcame a 25-point deficit to beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime. The Falcons (3-2) visit the Patriots (4-2) on Sunday night – that’s at 8:30 p.m. on NBC.
Auto racing devotees get a choice on Sunday of NASCAR’s continuing playoff at Kansas Speedway at 3 p.m. on NBC Sports Network or Formula One’s United States Grand Prix from Austin, Texas at the same time on NBC. Lewis Hamilton is closing in on a fourth F1 championship but probably won’t clinch it here.
If this be fun, make the most of it.
