Lots Of Sports Ahead
You’ve probably heard by now that there is this college basketball tournament going on.
The 64 teams in the NCAA’s Big Dance will be pared to 32 by the end of the weekend and it’s hard to forecast what some of the matchups for Saturday and Sunday will look like at this juncture. So we’ll work with what we have, and you can do the rest.
You realize there is no reason for your heiner to leave your recliner for the next few days. Blink and you’ll miss something. So just put everything within easy reach – a cooler, some snacks and the name of a friend who can help you out of the chair if you bloat – and take it all in.
You can start the fun on Friday at 1:50 p.m. ET on TBS with Cincinnati and Georgia State. The Bearcats are enjoyable to watch and come into this tournament having won the American Athletic Conference tourney for the first time. Georgia State made some noise a few years ago but can’t match up here.
You could follow that at 4:20 p.m. with Nevada vs. Texas. Texas freshman Mo Bamba (toe) hopes to play and this could be his last college game. He’s got serious beast potential in the paint.
At 9:55, p.m., it’s Clemson and New Mexico State. No one knows anything about NMSU. Learn. The game is on truTV. No one knows anything about that either. It surfaces once a year, like that groundhog.
Tiger Woods was tied for seventh after the first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational and should be in good position to make the cut on Friday. Given last Sunday’s fun, when he just missed forcing a playoff at the Valspar Championship, we shall recommend the third round at 2:30 on Saturday and the final round on Sunday at 2, all on NBC.
It’s hard to picture Kevin Harvick winning four consecutive NASCAR races, so that would make Sunday’s Auto Club 400 at Fontana must-crash TV. Sorry, must-watch TV. Fox will show it at 3:30 p.m.
Check your local listings for more of the NCAA matchups after Friday’s games conclude. Pick the ones you like. Upsets make the world go round.
