Remembering the late Prince Philip
Her Majesty The Queen of England has announced Buckingham palace is mourning the passing of her husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Her Majesty released a statement from Buckingham Palace confirming His Royal Highness passed away at the age of 99 peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

The Royal Family are mourning this great loss together joined by people around the world revering Prince Philip. As the world grieves the loss of a valued member of the Royal Family, we remember Prince Philip and his contribution to the world.
Prince Philip was born into royalty with his father, Prince Andrew of Denmark and Greece with his grandfather King George I, and his mother, Princess Alice, was the granddaughter of Queen Victoria being the eldest daughter of Prince Victoria of Hesse and Louis Alexander Mountbatten. Prince Philip renounced his claim to the Danish and Greek throne to marry Queen Elizabeth in 1947, served by her side during her six-decade reign.

Before becoming a member of the Royal Family, Prince Philip served in the military. Prince Philip completed his term as a cadet at the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth in 1940 and served British forces during World War II rising through the ranks to lieutenant by 1942.
UPDATE: In line with his wishes, Prince Philip will not receive a State Funeral and his body will not be Lying-in-State. The late Prince Philip is survived by his children Prince Charles, Prince Edward, Princess Anne, and Prince Andrew as well as his eight grandchildren including Prince William, Prince Harry, Zara Tindall, Peter Phillips, Eugenie, Beatrice, Louis, and James. Prince Philip will forever be in the hearts of millions across the world and will not receive a State Funeral due to the restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Prince Philip’s wishes, his body will not Lying-in-State and will not receive a State Funeral while his body will remain at Windsor Castle until a private funeral. The funeral for Prince Philip will be held at St. George’s Chapel with the regretful request of the public not to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions.
