Impossible Whopper Contains No Meat
The April 1st announcement that was made by Burger King made some people think that their new meatless burgers were an April Fool’s prank, but it is far from it. In fact, the announcement is expected to be a major success for the fast food giant. They are currently in the midst of a trial run with the new product at select locations, but the response has been positive.
The Impossible Whopper has been made available for purchase in the St. Louis Missouri area, for the time being. Burger King has partnered with the highly successful startup Impossible Foods, who aim to recreate the texture, taste, and aroma of real meat products, with no animals harmed.
The Impossible Foods company came into the public eye around two years ago, mostly based on the quality of their product as better than other veggie burgers. They create their meat substitute using plants and a modified yeast.
Burger King is not the only one who is capitalizing on the new meat-free burger trend. Carl’s Junior released a meat-free burger earlier in the year, and McDonald’s is testing a vegan burger in Europe currently.
Burger King appears to have gotten in on the trend, and social media pages and news sites are exploding with posts about the new product. This could be a huge shift in the fast food industry.
