The record-breaking Chartwell property sells for $150 million
Selling this property took over two years, but it was worth the $150 million selling price. The Chartwell estate is well-known from the classic show “The Beverly Hillbillies” and broke the record for the most expensive home sale in California history, which is saying a lot as this state has the most expensive real estate in the U.S.
The buyer was none other than the executive chairman and CEO of Fox Corporation, Lachlan Murdoch. If you think $150 million is a lot, the original listing price in 2017 was $350 million.
The estate is a total of 10.4 acres with a 20,000 square-foot main house with 11 rooms and a 5,700 square-foot guesthouse with 5 rooms. The property also features a 75-foot pool, a 40-car garage, tennis court, a 12,000 bottle wine cellar.
The property also the site of the former home of former president Ronald Reagan.
