Justin Bieber Was A No-Show
The Grammys…the one night all of the best musicians come together for awards, performances, and plenty of beautiful celebrities. But could it really be a great year at the Grammys if the Biebs wasn’t in attendance? The pop icon is reportedly skipping all award shows until his new album drops. So hopefully we won’t have to go too many more shows without the Biebs in attendance.
Bieber’s no-show didn’t just affect those with Bieber fever, though. Fans were anticipating a Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, or Jelena if you will, red carpet appearance. Bieber also was not on stage for an epic performance of “Despacito,” though Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonzi held down the fort and gave the performance of a lifetime. Fans were still hoping Bieber would come jumping out from backstage to surprise the audience, but it was to no avail. Justin was nominated for three Grammy’s this year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. Is it a coincidence that the ratings for the Grammys fell from 2017 and Bieber was not in attendance? Yes, probably. Many news outlets and websites are saying the Grammys was an embarrassment and that it just simply doesn’t have the same appeal that it used to.
Even if the viewership (and the Biebs) for the award show wasn’t there this year, Bruno Mars stole the show by winning Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best R&B Song, Best R&B Album and Best R&B Performance. That’s a lot of shelf space Mars will have to empty, and he couldn’t be more deserving of all of the hardware.
