The collectible tops could become a live-action movie.
Back in the late 90s, early 2000s, toy manufacturer Hasbro obtained the rights to Beyblade, a Japan-based series of collectible toy spinning tops. The gimmick of the line was that the parts of different Beyblades were interchangeable, and collectors could mix and match parts to create an ideal top, then battle them in small plastic arenas. Beyblade was and continues to be an extremely profitable brand, spinning off into animated series, video games, and other collectibles. Rumor has it, though, that Paramount is looking to take Beyblade into the real world.

According to a Deadline report, Paramount may be developing a live-action Beyblade feature film with Jerry Bruckheimer attached to produce. Bruckheimer has previously had a hand in the creation and production of films like Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure, and Bad Boys. Writers Neil Widener and Gavin James are also rumored to be writing for the project.

Strange as this may sound, it would hardly be the first time Paramount has teamed up with Hasbro to create a film out of a toy license. Don’t forget, Transformers was originally a Hasbro-licensed toy line. In fact, Paramount has actually had the film rights to Beyblade on retainer since 2015, though it seems they’ve only just worked up the courage to give it a try.
