Emails Leaked
According to a report, millions of unique email addresses and other contact information has been leaked from a commercial corporate database. However, a spokesperson with the business services agent Dun & Bradstreet stated that sensitive personal information was not exposed. The database contains information including names, job titles and functions, work email addresses and phone numbers.
The file that was leaked contained 33.7 million email addresses and other contact information. Other information contained in the database is where the company is believed to be located and how many employees the business contains. The exclusive report by ZDNet indicated that thousands of government employees from the Department of Defense, the Postal Service and the US Army are affected. These databases are used by marketers for current and prospective customers.
Typically, this data is sold in bulk, and a file of a half million records can cost up to $200,000. While it is not known how the data was leaked, it was a bleak reminder of the loss of privacy of information. For more be sure to check out the video above.
