Why Kanye wears the MAGA hat
Kanye West is a prolific rapper and producer but is now associated with his support of President Donald Trump. West reveals why he supports Trump and how his life has changed through supporting him.
West says he’s experienced backlash for supporting Trump and has faced severe criticism for supporting Trump with fans assuming his political affiliation based on West’s race, profession, and education. He also says many people assume West would lean towards the Democratic party because of his race.
West claims that he doesn’t get involved in politics and isn’t even registered to vote despite the fact that Kanye met with Trump to discuss political issues including racism, tax cuts, mental health, and prison reform. In 2018, West received a lot of backlash through Twitter after tweeting that he calls Trump “my brother.”
West points out that his celebrity status and wealth haven’t protected him in life referencing protectionism and classism saying, “The more money you have, the higher you go. And you get to the top and look over and what do you see? Fear.”
West uses fear as a driving factor in life including design projects and says he doesn’t like the word ‘ambitious’ feeling it’s beneath his abilities, saying he’s just a doer. Some are questioning West’s motives for getting close to the president involving the A$AP Rocky’s case in Stockholm, Sweden.
You might remember when rapper A$AP Rocky was detained in July 2019 for an altercation involving a 19-year-old Swedish citizen. Trump tweeted that he spoke to Kanye West and planned on speaking to the Prime Minister of Sweden to sort the issue. Rocky was charged with assault and pleaded not guilty, being released from Swedish detention on Aug. 14 and was convicted by the Stockholm District Court on Aug. 14.
