A Japanese crew led by 44-year-old fisherman Shigenori Goto hauled in this giant squid, still alive when it was caught in the frigid waters of northern Japan.
The mammoth squid, a male weighing 163 kilograms or 360 pounds, died shortly after being pulled to the surface.
