Former FBI lawyer speaks out against Trump
Lisa Page, the former FBI agent who had an affair with Peter Strzok, the former head of FBI Counterintelligence, has had enough of Trump. Page said Trump’s mockery of her at a campaign rally was “the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
Page and Strzok gained notoriety after their private text messages, in which they bashed Donald Trump, went public. In the texts, Strzok said Trump would not become President because “we’re going to stop it,” which fueled allegations that the FBI was colluding to undermine the Trump campaign.
At a campaign rally, Trump imitated Page, saying, “I love you, Peter!” in a high-pitched, mocking voice.
“I had stayed quiet for years hoping it would fade away, but instead it got worse,” Page says. “It had been so hard not to defend myself, to let people who hate me control the narrative. I decided to take my power back…my personal opinions had absolutely no bearing on the course of the Russia investigations, I don’t kid myself that the fact will matter very much for a lot of people. The president has a very loud megaphone.”
Page called Trump’s attacks “sickening.”
“It’s like being punched in the gut. My heart drops to my stomach when I realize he has tweeted about me again,” Page said. “The president of the United States is calling me names to the entire world. He’s demeaning me and my career.”
