Her 15-Year Hiatus Ends In August

Despite having her wildly popular, and hilarious, daytime talk show, Ellen DeGeneres has been known for an eventful, and comedic past. Not only did she have her own television show, Ellen, in which she became the first openly lesbian actress to play an openly lesbian character on TV, but DeGeneres was a stand-up comedy superstar in the 1980’s that eventually skyrocketed her career onto the small screen.

Now, after 15 years of sticking to daytime TV, Ellen will begin to tour again, revitalizing her stand-up roots.

The tour, entitled “An Evening With Ellen DeGeneres,” will be a simple, three-city tour that stays on the West Coast. It is planned to visit San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle. It is being done in partner with Netflix, who will be filming the Seattle show for an upcoming Netflix special the comedian has down the pipeline.

You can catch “An Evening With Ellen DeGeneres” beginning on August 10th, but it will only last for two weeks, concluding on August 23rd.
