Meet Charles Frank Bolden Jr., the current Administrator of NASA, a retired United States Marine Corps Major General, and former NASA astronaut. His perspective of earth changed the very first day he went into space and his life purpose after that had forever changed.

When Charles began to make his journey into outer space a routine, the awe of it all never seemed to go away. Everything looks and seems so beautiful and simple from above but when you take a step back into reality you then begin to remind yourself of all that is going on in those countries; all the hurt, tragedy, and destruction. You begin to ask yourself why. You know how it should be because you’re looking at it the way it aught to be, so why isn’t it. You begin to challenge yourself that when you come back to earth you decide you are going to do everything in your power to make it the way it should be.

As a wise man names Sultan Bin Salman Al Saud once said, “The first say or so we all pointed to our countries, the third or fourth day we were pointing to our continents. But the fifth day, we were aware of only one earth.” As someone who lived through many wars, not in his wildest imagination did he think the US would ever be partnered with Germany, Japan, and Russia working cooperatively 250 miles into space for fifteen years doing things to make life better on earth is completely mind boggling.

One day we may find ourselves not only on our own planet but spread across the universe into another planet such as Mars. There are many challenges and obstacles to overcome before we get there but if we can’t seem to live co-existing with each other in earth, then how can anyone expect us to live together in Mars.
