Another TKO For Kattar
Calvin “The Boston Finisher” Kattar scored a third-round TKO victory over Shane Burgos in UFC 220 Saturday night at the TD Garden, in an explosive and action-packed main card fight. Not only did Kattar win the fight in epic fashion, he also got to do it in front of a crazed home town crowd in Boston. That ups his record to 18-2 MMA, and 2-0 UFC.
With the fight hanging in the balance, Kattar landed a big right hand that wobbled Burgos, followed by an uppercut that dropped him. He rained down punches and while Burgos tried to get to his feet, ref Dan Miragliota has seen enough and waved the bout off (MMAFighting).
“I envisioned this since the moment I started my career, (since) day one,” Kattar said. “And it was better than I could have ever expected. It felt amazing. That Boston crowd, there’s nothing like it. You guys were on the building, you heard it. It was amazing.”
So who is The Boston Finisher? After Saturday night’s fight, people were probably frantically googling him on their smartphones as they sat in awe of his raw talent. The 29-year-old featherweight fighter hails from Methuen, Massachusetts, and only has two losses to his professional career name. One from submission, the other from decision. With 7 TKO’s to his name, and his impressive record, it’s no wonder why they call him The Boston Finisher.
Kattar is still enjoying in his recent main card victory, and is looking to his team for what the future holds. One thing is for certain, it looks bright for this Bostonian.
“I was focusing on Shane Burgos this whole time,” Kattar said. “I didn’t look past him. I had a lot of respect for him. He’s been unbeaten, his whole career. Nobody’s been able to do what I did. I’m just happy I was able to go and get the job done. And now I’ll talk to my team and coaches and see who’s next.”
