Disney is officially spinning up a new chapter of Tangled, and fans finally know who will be climbing the tower. As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter on January 7, Disney has cast Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider in its upcoming live-action adaptation of the beloved 2010 animated hit.

Croft, the 22-year-old Australian actress known for her role on DC’s Titans, steps into the role of Rapunzel, the free-spirited princess with magical hair and an even bigger dream of seeing the world. Joining her is 24-year-old Milo Manheim, best known to Disney audiences from the Zombies franchise and Dancing With the Stars, who will take on the role of charming thief Flynn Rider. The film will be directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman), with a screenplay by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Thor: Love and Thunder). While no release date has been announced yet, excitement around the project is already building.

Adding to the intrigue, Kathryn Hahn is currently in talks to portray Mother Gothel, the film’s iconic villain. Fans have largely praised Disney’s choice of Croft, applauding her look and fresh energy for Rapunzel. Reactions to Manheim’s casting have been more mixed, with some online discussion resurfacing past social media posts related to his views on Israel—sparking debate and even calls for boycotts—while others have focused on whether a live-action remake of a 16-year-old favorite is coming too soon.
Originally voiced by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, Tangled was a major success for Disney, earning over $591 million worldwide, inspiring a TV series, and landing an Oscar nomination for the song “I See the Light.” After a brief pause in development earlier this year following the lukewarm box office response to Snow White, Disney appears ready to move forward once more—this time with a new cast, a bold creative team, and a story that fans old and new are eager to revisit.
