Shaun White failed to win a third-consecutive gold medal in men’s halfpipe, as all three Americans in the final fell short of reaching the podium.
The Flying Tomato, as he has been dubbed by some, was crushed when he finished forth, after hoping to claim his 3rd straight gold on the halfpipe.
White ended the event with a 90.25, but it wasn’t enough to beat out Japaneses pair Ayumu Hirano and Taku Hairoka who took Silver and Bronze.
This marks the first time since the sports creation that an American has not landed on the podium.

White Falls to I-Pod
In an Olympic stunner, Shaun White failed in his quest for three straight halfpipe gold medals, falling to Switzerland’s Iouri Podladtchikov (I-Pod).
I-Pod, rocked the halfpipe with a trick he created and perfected known as the YOLO jump.
In fact White attempted a variation of the trick in his ill fated run on the pipe but failed to deliver.
While we love Shaun White, we’re thrilled to see an innovative snowboarder, and personal friend of White’s, go home with the Gold.
However, we’re hoping Shaun will hang on another 4 years to compete for his 3rd gold medal in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games held in South Korea. We have full faith that he’ll go out on top!
