There’s something kind of magical about cassette tapes, isn’t there? Yeah, they don’t have the best storage or fidelity, but the idea of shoving a little rectangle into a Walkman and getting tunes out of it has a kind of “giant robot combination sequence” coolness to it. Or, in the case of Cassette Beasts, shoving a little rectangle into a Walkman and transforming into a pastel monster. If you’re ready to wind up your tapes, then here are the details on Cassette Beasts‘ release date and platforms.
When Does Cassette Beasts Release? Release Date and Platforms
Cassette Beasts is an indie monster-collecting-and-battling game developed by Bytten Studio and published by Raw Fury. It’s been in development for a few years now, gradually releasing designs for monsters and the mysterious world that they inhabit, and they’re just about ready to press play.
Cassette Beasts will release on April 26th, 2023. The game will be playable at first only on PC via Steam, the Microsoft Store, and PC Game Pass. Later this spring season, it will also be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Game Pass, and Nintendo Switch.

In Cassette Beasts, you play as a dimensional castaway, trapped on an island that has drawn in people from all over human history. This mysterious island is populated by monsters both friendly and hostile, and with the power of your trusty tape deck, you can copy their appearances and transform into them. Yep, you’re not just raising the monsters, you are the monsters.
Explore a pixel art-rendered world, battling monsters and solving mysteries with the help of your new friends. Capture all kinds of monsters on tape, then use them in battle to improve their stats and unlock new abilities. When you’re in a pinch in battle, unite your heart with your partner to fuse your monsters together into an entirely new composite creature. With 120 monsters to collect, that means upwards of 14,000 different combinations to discover.
If you like monster-collecting games like Pokemon, and get a particular kick out of randomly fusing critters together, then there’s lots of fun to be had with Cassette Beasts on April 26th. Remember, it’s available on day one for PC Game Pass subscribers.
