Getting Ready For The Weekend With A Sports Review
You’ll be sprinting for the TV room on this fun-filled weekend. Because the weekend starts fast and early, and you don’t want to miss a minute of it.
You like postseason action? Baseball and NASCAR. Seasons at their midpoint? College football. Get in here, plunk your heiner in the recliner and restrict all unnecessary movement for the next 72 hours.
The World Series commences on Friday night with Game 3 at 8:09 p.m. ET on Fox. The Los Angeles Dodgers, theoretically defrosted now after their debacle in Boston, meet the Red Sox with hopes of cutting into that two-game lead at Dodger Stadium. Game 4 on Saturday is same time, same place, same TV coordinate. If there’s a Game 5, it’s in L.A. on Sunday on Fox at 8:15 p.m.
While we’re in postseason mode, let’s mention NASCAR’s round-of-eight playoff beginning on Sunday from Martinsville Speedway. NBC Sports Network brings you the high-speed, high-stakes exchanges of paint at 2:30 p.m.
The college football offerings? We like these two.
At 3:30 p.m. on Saturday on CBS, No. 9 Florida (6-1) meets longtime SEC rival Georgia (6-1), which is ranked No. 7. The annual battle takes place in Jacksonville, Florida. Georgia might have a bit of a quarterback controversy brewing. If you are fortunate enough to have the Pac 12 pac-age, catch No. 14 Washington State (6-1) at No. 24 Stanford (5-2). WSU is the flavor of the week after beating Oregon soundly.
Check listings for your local NFL team’s TV window, but make room for this pair as well. The Green Bay Packers (3-2-1) play the Los Angeles Rams (7-0) at 4:25 p.m. on Fox. The New Orleans Saints (5-1, five straight wins) play the Minnesota Vikings (4-2-1, three straight wins) on Sunday night, with NBC lighting up your life at 8:20 p.m.
Find that remote. Unless you are a Bostonian – then grab the clickah.
