Get ready for gameday action this weekend
When the best get together on the football field, the drama rises and so do our passions. When those teams are conference rivals, crank it up a notch (to 11, for fans of Spinal Tap).
Make sure your heiner is in the recliner on Saturday when No. 11 Michigan (2-0) visits No. 13 Wisconsin (3-0) in a Big Ten fiesta. Can the Wolverines’ defense contain running back Jonathan Taylor? We shall see, at noon ET, on Fox.
Prefer the SEC? No. 8 Auburn (3-0) takes a trip to College Station to meet No. 17 Texas A&M (2-1). Will the Tigers be saying “Aggies, I wish I’d never seen your face?” CBS shows this beauty at 3:30 p.m.
The Saturday evening capper pits No. 7 Notre Dame (2-0) against No. 3 Georgia (3-0). Somebody’s hopes to be in the College Football Playoff quartet could be dented in this clash at Athens, Ga., at 8 p.m. on CBS.
Baseball’s schedulers knew what they were doing when they handed the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs seven games against each other in the final 11 days of the season. They’re battling for the National League Central Division title or a wild card and you can catch them on Sunday from the friendly confines of Wrigley Field at 2:20 p.m. on TBS.
It doesn’t appear that the Cleveland Indians will catch the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central, but a wild card can still be had. The Indians play the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday night at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Do whatever you must on Sunday to see the NFL’s premier matchup – the Baltimore Ravens (2-0) at the Kansas City Chiefs (2-0). Two terrific young quarterbacks (Lamar Jackson of the former, Patrick Mahomes with the latter) should drive the defenses nuts. CBS shows this (as always, please check your local listings) at 1 p.m.
NASCAR’s playoffs enter their second week and the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond, Va., will be run under the lights on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on NBCSN. Martin Truex Jr. won the first playoff race in the chase for the Monster Energy Cup.
Have all the fun you can stand.
