A Sports Filled Weekend Ahead
There aren’t many better ways to start your viewing weekend than with a high-power matchup of two top 10 college football teams. So that is where we will kick off our Weekend TV Six-Pack. Your heiner and the recliner will not soon part.
On Friday night at 9 p.m. ET. on ESPN, No. 7 Stanford (3-0) visits No. 10 Washington (4-0). Coach Chris Petersen has revitalized the Washington program; this will be the first matchup of top 10 teams at Husky Stadium in 19 years. Stanford has won 15 of its last 16 games and seven consecutive Pac-12 games.
We’ve got three good ones for you on Saturday, and two of them are at the same time, so be ready to flip between them or, better still, find yourself a cozy sports bar with many screens.
No. 11 Tennessee (4-0), fresh off a tremendous come-from-behind win against Florida, hits the road to play No. 25 Georgia (3-1), which took a bad beating from Ole Miss last week. CBS shows this game at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Over on ABC, there’s a Big Ten beauty pitting No. 8 Wisconsin (4-0) against No. 4 Michigan (4-0) in Ann Arbor.
We’d be remiss if we didn’t suggest No. 3 Louisville (4-0) at No. 5 Clemson (4-0), matching stellar quarterbacks in Lamar Jackson and DeShaun Watson. ABC presents what should be a high-scoring contest at 8 p.m.
Not a lot of sexy matchups in the NFL. Stick with the Sunday night game (8:30 p.m., NBC) with the Kansas City Chiefs (2-1) at the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1), who were humiliated in their last outing by the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Ryder Cup golf match between the U.S. and Europe began on Friday at Hazeltine in Minnesota and concludes on Sunday with the singles matches. These are some of the world’s best competitors and the U.S. has lost three of the last four Ryder Cups (held every two years). NBC will be all over this from 12-6 p.m.
Enjoy. Watch responsibly. The eyeballs you save may be your own.
