Uber’s Big Case
Alright Uber lovers, a high court judge has ruled that Uber is not breaking a law that bans private hire cars from using taximeters. Transport for London, the body that’s responsible for most aspects of transportation in the Greater London area, had taken the issue to court to seek clarification about whether the app was legal.
London’s black cab drivers had argued the Uber app is effectively a taximeter because it uses time and distance to calculate how much a trip costs. Uber has said in a statement on their site that the decision was a victory for common sense.
