Trump Comes For Cummings, Again
President Trump has been feuding with Representative Elijah Cummings, a Democrat from Baltimore, Maryland, all week. On Sunday, Trump attacked Cummings for caring more about the Southern border than problems in his home district.
“Baltimore, under the leadership of Elijah Cummings, has the worst Crime Statistics in the Nation. 25 years of all talk, no action! So tired of listening to the same old Bull…Next, Reverend Al will show up to complain & protest. Nothing will get done for the people in need. Sad!” Trump tweeted. “Rep, Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA…As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.”
Politicians on both sides of the aisle denounced Trump’s tweets as vitriolic and racially charged. Trump, however, refused to back down. And later in the week, he seemed to be vindicated in his point about Baltimore’s crime problem when Cummings’ residence in the city was burglarized.
“Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed. Too bad!” Trump tweeted.
Police say the burglary took place around 3:40 AM last Saturday morning.
