Prince Harry and Meghan honor the Festival of Remembrance
Prince Harry and his wife, American-born actress Meghan Markle, paid tribute to Britain’s war veterans on their Instagram page on Monday. On November 11, Great Britain celebrates the Festival of Remembrance to honor the nation’s war dead.
November 11 is the anniversary of the end of World War I. In the United States, November 11 is commemorated as Veteran’s Day.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared a photo of Prince Harry, himself a veteran of the British Armed Forces, saluting while dressed in his military uniform.
“Today, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined Her Majesty The Queen and members of @TheRoyalFamily at the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph to commemorate and honour the men and women who have lost their lives in conflict,” Harry and Meghan posted on their official Instagram account. “As shared at last night’s Festival of Remembrance, this quote embodies the sacrifice of those that serve: ‘When you go home, tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow, we gave our today.'” The royals included the hashtags #WeWillRememberThem and #Remembrance.
Harry and Meghan joined other royals, including the Queen and their in-laws, Prince William and Princess Kate, at an official ceremony to honor the Festival of Remembrance. The royal family was accompanied by Britain’s newly elected Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and his girlfriend.
