Golf
Jordan Spieth topped off a season to remember on Sunday with a victory in the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Spieth won the tournament by four strokes, capturing the season-long FedEx Cup and the $10 million bonus that goes with it.

With the winner’s check of $1.485 million, Spieth also enjoyed the richest campaign in golf history. His official money total of $12,030,465 – eclipsed by $1.125 million the old record held by Vijay Singh (2004).
At 22, Spieth is the youngest winner of the Tour Championship.
NFL
The Pittsburgh Steelers won a game, but lost their quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, for perhaps as long as six weeks. They beat the St. Louis Rams 12-6 but Roethlisberger suffered a left knee injury and left the stadium on crutches. … A comeback victory boosted the Cincinnati Bengals to 3-0 and dropped the Baltimore Ravens to 0-3. The Bengals won 28-24. … The Atlanta Falcons also came from behind and defeated the Dallas Cowboys 39-28. Atlanta is a surprising 3-0.
MLB
The New York Mets clinched the National League East Division title, ending a nine-year playoff absence, and the Chicago Cubs earned a wild card, putting them in the postseason for the first time since 2008. The disappointing Washington Nationals had a fight on their own bench, as relief pitcher Jon Papelbon grabbed outfielder Bryce Harper by the throat. Can’t anyone in Washington get along?
NASCAR
Matt Kenseth passed Kevin Harvick with three laps to go as Harvick ran out of fuel at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Kenseth joins Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin, the winner at Chicagoland last week, with an automatic berth in the second round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Oregon’s streak of 98 consecutive weeks in the AP Top 25 ended after its 62-20 loss to Utah. Utah earned its first-ever first place vote in the poll and is ranked 10th. Ohio State remains No. 1.
