The skilled third-baseman will be enshrined in Cooperstown.
Scott Rolen is one of the most skilled and recognized third-basemen in all of Major League Baseball, with eight Gold Glove awards and a tenure spanning the Phillies, Cardinals, Blue Jays and Reds. In honor of his vast accomplishments in the sports, Rolen was officially elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. During his sixth year of eligibility for the honor, Rolen was named on 76.3% of the ballots cast for this year’s honors.

“You don’t think about this,” Rolen said on MLB Network. “You think about trying to do the best you can, play for your team and play the game as best you can, and there’s such a long road. I never thought that the Hall of Fame was going to be the answer.”
“There was actually never a point in my life when I thought I was going to be a Hall of Fame baseball player,” Rolen said about his achievement.

Rolen just barely cleared the necessary 75% threshold of votes required to be elected to the Hall of Fame. He was the only one of 27 players to make it past the threshold, with the only other player coming close being first baseman Todd Helton with a 72.2% vote.
