Ice-T Nearly Shoots Amazon Delivery Person
Rapper Ice-T is calling out Amazon for having unidentified drivers drop off packages. He says he pulled a gun on an Amazon deliveryman this week, thinking it was a burglar at his doorstep.
“Message To Amazon: Now that you have regular people making your home deliveries… Maybe they should wear a Vest with AMAZON DELIVERY on it,” Ice-T tweeted. He called Amazon’s delivery protocol “not safe.”
Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations, Dave Clark, responded to the rapper on Twitter, thanking him for the suggestion.
“Just sayin…thanks for the suggestion. We MF’ing love you and our drivers. Lots of innovations coming on this and many that already exist to help you track your package and delivery on a map. Thanks for being a customer,” Clark tweeted.
However, the problem might grow worse now that Amazon is encouraging its delivery employees to start their own package-delivery services. As part of partnership service, Amazon is offering to invest $10,000 in employees who start a business to deliver Amazon packages.
“With an initial investment of as little as $10,000, the company says it can get you leased vans, insurance, gas cards, and training to launch your own delivery fleet,” CBS News reports. “The site also promises to be your first – and, possibly, only – the customer. A delivery fleet owner with 20 to 40 vans can potentially earn $300,000 a year, Amazon says.”
However, delivery uniforms are optional. After Ice-T’s scary incident, maybe Amazon employees should consider wearing them.
