Finishing up his tour of Australia with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbot, the ginger prince, fourth in line to the throne, payed homage to fallen Australian SAS soldiers and comforted their families at Campbell Barracks in the coastal suburb of Swanbourne. While there, he met with SAS troops past and present and laid wreaths at the memorials of fallen SAS soldiers. This meant a lot to the Australian troops, as Prince Harry is seen as one of their own due to his own military career.

100th Anniversary

The prince and Prime Minister took part in Saturday’s International Fleet Review which marked the 100th anniversary of the Royal Australian Naval fleets sailing into the Sydney harbor. The Prince and Prime Minister were welcomed into the port by a 100 gun salute and afterwards the prince inspected the royal navy fleet. It was said the Prince cut a very striking figure dressed in his white dress uniform of the British Army complete with blue Army Air Corps beret.

Later in the evening on Saturday the Prince, accompanied by the Prime Minister and thousands of Australians, enjoyed a brilliant 30-minute fireworks display commemorating the Australian Royal Navy’s 100-year anniversary of sailing into Sydney harbor.

When asked about his visit to Australia the Prince remarked it was much too short a trip because he would have to be back to work within the week, but he promised he would be back soon to enjoy the wonderful country and hopefully get in some surfing. He also stated that he felt that Sydney was much like a second home to him and he was sad to be leaving so soon.

The Prince will be leaving Perth on Sunday evening and head for Dubai where he will attend the Sentebale ‘Forget Me Not’ ball on Monday. Sentebale is a charity co-founded by Prince Harry that was created to help disadvantaged and vulnerable children. Prince Harry has indeed carried on his late mother, Princess Diana’s, legendary humanitarian charity work which she would surely be proud of.

Charitable Work

The 29-year-old prince, who is fourth in line to the British Royal Throne, is a Captain in the British Army and has considerable combat experience in the Afghanistan war as an Apache helicopter pilot. Since becoming an adult the Prince has actively pursued his mother’s charitable works around the world while also representing England as an international ambassador and continuing his duties in the British Royal Army.

The Prince followed both his father, Prince Charles, and his brother, Prince William into a military career where many were astonished by the fact that he has actively taken part in military maneuvers in war-torn Afghanistan. The Prince continues his military career while representing the royal throne and England throughout his many humanitarian trips abroad.

In September 2009, Prince William and Prince Harry set up The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry to better enable them with continuing the charitable works of their mother. Prince Harry has little time to himself these days due to his work in the British Army, his royal duties, and his charity work, but there has been speculation lately that the young prince has a new love interest and he may soon join his brother in taking a wife and settling down.
