Trump’s Plan For Space Exploration Starting With The Moon
Trump’s next project is here, or shall we say on the moon. He is dedicated to getting the US back in the space race and plans to reach the moon in 2024.
You might be thinking, he’ll be out of office by 2024 but this is being seen as a ploy to get people talking about his candidacy for the 2020 presidential election. Another goal of this project is to take on the competition in space exploration, Russia and China. Both countries have successfully landed unmanned crafts on the moon and NASA carried out six manned flights between 1969 and 1772 to earth’s satellite.
NASA had an original plan to launch the first “gateway” station in orbit around the moon by 2024 and to plan a manned mission by 2028. Vice President Mike Pence announced, “We’re in a space race today, just as we were in the 1960s. It’s time for the next giant leap.”
He continues, “That next giant leap is to return American astronauts to the moon within the next five years by any means necessary, and to establish a permanent presence on the moon and prepare to put American astronauts on Mars.” This new space program will work with partners including SpaceX and the Boeing-Lockhead Martin partnership United Launch Alliance. The funding for this new venture is estimated to value tens of billions of dollars and the United Launch Alliance plans on getting an unscrewed capsule into space by 2020.
