Doctor WHO is the longest running Sci-Fi series in the world to be shown on television. The Doctor can be literally anyone with his death cheating regenerating ability. Eleven actors have showcased their unique take on the iconic character of the doctor Peter Capaldi aged 55 is all set to play the role of the 12th doctor in the next season of Doctor WHO. Even though he is much older than all the recent avatars of the Doctor, he is of the same Scottish descent as Tenant and Mccoy.

After a tenth month long filming as Cardinal Richelieu in BBC’s The Three Musketeers, Peter told the press of a short vacation before again filming “one very specific thing” for BBC. He dismissed it as a casual or inconsequential role which showed his ingenuity and maturity as an actor. BBC had kept the identity of the 12th doctor under wraps with a code name Houdini before finally revealing it to the world on Sunday evening at 7.25pm.

Announcing the Next Doctor

In the last half century, the announcing of the identity of the next Doctor moved from being in press releases to a live event of the level which also announces Britain’s prime minister, soccer captain and Britain’s Got Talent’s winner. Peter sees himself as “a lifelong Doctor WHO fan” and stated “Being asked to play the doctor is an amazing privilege. Like the doctor himself I find myself in a state of utter terror and delight. I can’t wait to get started.”

Peter Capaldi – the Man Who Would Be the 12th Doctor

Peter is known for the air of danger in his role may it be as the “The Thick of It” smart aleck Malcolm Tucker or his recent stage role in “The Ladykillers”. He was also exceptional in his menacing performance as a boss in “The Hour” second season as a boss. Peter had already been cast in the supporting role in the main series with David tenant (10th doctor) and also in the spin off Torchwood. He may have been more suitable for doctor’s time lord nemesis the Master with his facial veins pulsing and his intimidating acting.

In addition to being an actor, Peter is also well known as a top notch director and writer. Perhaps he would be happy to help the writer director Moffat with the series in those aspects also. The role of Doctor has now become a role which top actors would like to be much like the role of Britain’s top spy James Bond.

Evolution of the Doctor

Like the time lord Doctor himself, his role had evolved from popular actors like Baker and Mccoy to stage actors like Eccleston and Tennant after its return in 2005. Ben Whishaw and Rory Kinnear, two of the former Denmark princes are also rumored to take part in the series. It is certain that Capaldi will bring an air of excitement, danger and unbounded energy to the character played by eleven previous actors.
