Back in Buscemi’s Day!!
Indie films, there’s nothing like them. It is hard to imagine a world nowadays without the quirky independent films that people love. Movies that make you think, make you laugh, make you cry, and sometimes even confuse you. On this episode of ‘Park Bench’ Steve Buscemi reunites with ‘Mystery Train’ collaborator and pioneer in the world of indie film, Jim Jarmusch.
The two have quite a history together with a friendship spanning over many years, so Jim makes the perfect guest to join Steve on a park bench in the middle of New York City to talk about life, movies, and anything in between. The two old friends gather on a brisk New York afternoon and discuss the early days in which the both of them tried numerous times to get their beginnings in show business.
Jim Jarmusch really breaks down why he wanted to get into the world of cinema and what really draws him to film more than any other medium out there. To Jim, and I’m sure most filmmakers would agree, film is a beautiful work of art because it shows off many types of creative mediums in one project.
In one film you see the beauty in the performances of the actors, the photography of the scenes, the poetic words of the writer, the music that sets the tone of the film, and the hard work of a director. There is truly nothing that compares to film, and with new filmmakers being inspired by legends every day – film is a masterpiece that won’t be going out of style any day soon.
