This is the second major suspension the film has suffered.
Filming began last year for Tom Cruise’s newest action film, Mission: Impossible 7, but unfortunately, it had to be suspended due to the burgeoning COVID-19 pandemic. Filming was finally able to resume in December, though Cruise was noted as being extremely strict on crew regarding pandemic safety and social distancing mandates.
“We are the gold standard,” Cruise said in audio captured by British newspaper The Sun in December. “They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us! Because they believe in us and what we’re doing.”

Unfortunately, it seems Cruise’s warnings were not properly heeded, as an unspecified member of the crew tested positive for COVID-19 during a routine test.
“We have temporarily halted production on Mission: Impossible 7 until June 14th, due to positive coronavirus test results during routine testing,” a Paramount statement to CNN reads. “We are following all safety protocols and will continue to monitor the situation.”

In spite of this setback, the film is still on track for its planned May 2022 release, at least as far as anybody knows.
