What’s the next big step for the world’s most popular OS?
The transition between Windows 7 and Windows 10 (technically Windows 8 was in there too, but who cares about Windows 8) was a process about as smooth as sandpaper. Windows 10 was a major overhaul in both appearance and features, and to the very last minute there were holdouts who refused Microsoft’s insistent update messages. Hopefully, when the next iteration of Windows comes out, it won’t be such a grueling process.

Microsoft announced on Wednesday that they’ll be holding a livestreamed press conference where they will unveil the “next generation of Windows” on June 24. It isn’t known whether this will be the official next iteration of Windows, Windows 11, or if it’ll be some kind of large overhaul of Windows 10.
Industry insiders have claimed that the new Windows version is being developed under the code name “Sun Valley.” This new version is touted to have a more rounded, modern look in its interface, as opposed to the somewhat boxy design of the Windows 10 start menu and taskbar. The new version may also include an overhauled version of the Windows App store designed to make it easier for third-party developers to conduct business.
