Melissa McCarthy Will Be Replacing Steve Harvey For Kids Talent Show
Melissa McCarthy will be replacing Steve Harvey as the host of “Little Big Shots,” a show devoted to talented kids. The show, produced by Harvey and Ellen DeGeneres, launched in 2016 and has been a hit for the NBC Network, showcasing “young musicians, singers, dancers and every form of wunderkind in the country…with hilarious results,” as NBC said when it launched.
NBC Entertainment Co-Chairman Paul Telegdy said on a conference call with reporters that McCarthy is a great fit for the role. He hopes McCarthy will “refresh” the show.
“Melissa’s just an incredible performer and an incredible comedian, someone who we feel is part of the NBC family. I think she’ll just bring an incredibly fresh perspective to it,” Telegdy said. “I think it’s a real refresh for a brand that’s done very well for us. Melissa is also a strong creative force with her own ideas for what the show will look like.”
Telegdy didn’t comment on why Steve Harvey will no longer host the show. Harvey’s talk show, “Steve,” is also being canceled after a highly successful seven-year run. Kelly Clarkson will be taking over Harvey’s daytime slot with her own show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
