The Power In Education

Laverne Cox is taking the media by storm and speaking out about transgender equality and taking a powerful stand in hopes of starting some conversations and educating the world. The ‘Orange is the New Black’ star has done amazing work in doing so by playing Sophia on the popular Netflix series, but in real life she uses her platform to raise awareness and celebrate those who have identified themselves as transgender.

Here recently she has shown support to Hollywood’s most buzzed about celebrity, Caitlyn Jenner. Cox showed her support through a few twitter exchanges with Jenner and also has gone on several talk shows and verbally praised Jenner.

Cox has gone on record though and said that she doesn’t know if she has any advice to offer saying Jenner knows exactly who she is and doesn’t think she needs advice for where she is in her life right now. Instead of offering her advice, Cox gives Jenner and the rest of the transgender world her love and admiration. Jenner certainly thinks highly of Cox as well, she recently tweeted “.@LaverneCox, you are fierce and fabulous! Your support means the world. Thank you for all that you do for the community. #TransIsBeautiful”
