It’s here. In all its glory. College football! Woo-hoo!
Forget about last week’s Florida-Miami game. That was a teaser – we call it Week Zero. This, my friends, is Week One.
And it begins Thursday night.
Get out the chips and dip, crack open a few cold ones, and plant your heiner in the recliner (yes, you read that line in Friday’s TV blog, but I’m only stealing from myself here).
Sure, you could watch the final NFL preseason games. But no starters play and the games mean nothing. Feh. The college games are for real.
Is consensus preseason No. 1 pick Clemson on the way to another title? The Tigers open up against a much-revamped Georgia Tech (new coach, no more triple-option offense) at 8 p.m. ET on the ACC Network.
Got a hankering for rivalry action way out west? No. 14 Utah meets Brigham Young at 10:15 p.m. on ESPN.
Spartan pride anyone? No. 18 Michigan State takes on Tulsa at 7 p.m. on FS1.
Do you think No. 17 Central Florida has not gotten its in recent years? UCF opens at 7:30 p.m. against Florida A&M. Notre Dame transfer Brandon Wimbush will quarterback the Knights against the underdog Rattlers.
Other ranked teams in action Thursday night: No. 12 Texas A&M and No. 19 Wisconsin.
This is the smorgasbord we’ve been waiting for, the all-you-can-see TV buffet. Use that picture-in-picture function. Switch from game to game. Record a few and watch some others.
It’s your life. Don’t waste a minute of Thursday night.
And come back and see the blog on Friday for your weekend TV listings. Here’s a promise – we’ll steer you to the best in college football. This is what we do.
