Jared Leto S1:E9
Meet John Kiriakou, a man who was a CIA analyst and case officer, senior investigator for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and counterterrorism consultant for ABC News. He was the first U.S. government official to confirm in 2007 that intense procedures were used to interrogate Al Qaeda prisoners. In 2012, he pleaded guilty to disclosing classified information about a fellow CIA officer that connected the covert operative to a specific operation. He was also convicted of passing classified information to a reporter although most of what he had said was not published.

With that being said, John Kiriakou has lived a high profile life, one in which he would of never imagined. He got to travel the world as a spy for the United States and see the world in a different perspective. But out of all that he has seen and done one thing that he said he could take away from his experience is that we can’t trust our own government. That no matter what they tell you behind closed doors it means something else. And the scariest thing for him is that he fears the American people won’t wake up and see what’s really going on.

No matter who steps into office they never have full control over what goes on. The government and the people who hold power over the president is whom we need to be concerned about. We need to be the America that was pre 9/11 not the America that is post 9/11. We can still make a difference and John hopes the American people wake up before it’s too late.
