Savage 21 Promotes Financial Literacy Month
Rapper 21 Savage visited an Atlanta school this week to educate students about financial literacy and the importance of bank accounts.
“As I have gotten smarter about financial management, I realize how empowering it is to control your money rather than be controlled by it,” 21 Savage said. “I want to help kids with a background similar to mine to get smart about their money.”
21 Savage noted that finance is not usually taught in high schools. Therefore, many young people run into financial trouble by taking on credit cards and high-interest loans. He recently released a public service announcement called “The Bank Account Campaign,” to educate young people about the importance of starting a bank account.
21 Savage has also been in the news for spending time in an ICE detention center. However, 21 says he will prevail at the end of his legal battles over his immigration status.
“It’s like putting bulletproof glass in front of a bulletproof vest,” Savage told The New York Times. “I’m going to stand up already, this vest already going to stop any bullet you throw, and y’all going to come help and put some glass in front of it too? This can’t be stopped. We a tank now. We was already the army — now we coming in tanks.”
