In a decisive move aimed at safeguarding civilians and preserving Yemen’s unity, the Saudi-led Coalition has confirmed targeted airstrikes on two vessels linked to unauthorized arms shipments entering Yemen through the port of Al-Mukalla. The ships had reportedly departed from the UAE’s Fujairah port carrying weapons and armored vehicles without the required approvals from the Coalition’s Joint Forces Command.

The action follows a formal request from Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), which emphasized the urgent need to prevent further escalation and protect communities in eastern Yemen. The PLC has since announced a series of strong measures, including canceling a defense agreement, declaring a state of emergency, closing borders, and calling for the withdrawal of Emirati forces within 24 hours.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 25/12/2025 (corresponding to 5/7/1447 AH), the Kingdom reaffirmed that it has been working closely with the brotherly United Arab Emirates to contain recent escalatory actions by the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the governorates of Hadramout and Al-Mahara. These developments, however, raised serious concerns after reports confirmed the movement of military equipment without official clearance.

Saudi Arabia expressed deep concern over what it described as dangerous actions in eastern Yemen, warning that such steps threaten not only Yemen’s stability but also Saudi national security. Riyadh made clear that any violation of established red lines will be met with an appropriate response.

In an unusually direct public message, the Kingdom called on the UAE to withdraw all forces from Yemen within 24 hours and to immediately halt military and financial support to Yemeni factions operating outside the internationally recognized government. Saudi officials stressed that continued backing of separatist agendas undermines national unity and complicates efforts to end the conflict.

Despite the strong tone, Riyadh reaffirmed its commitment to Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. The Kingdom reiterated that a comprehensive political solution remains the only sustainable path forward and urged all parties to prioritize dialogue over division.

Saudi Arabia concluded by emphasizing that its actions are guided by a clear goal: protecting civilians, preventing further instability, and helping Yemen move toward peace after years of hardship—an objective it says remains shared with all partners who respect Yemen’s unity and the region’s security.
