Two Bomb Scare Incidents Cause Airport Evacuation
In the past two days there have been two bomb scare incidents, shutting down two Houston airports including William P. Hobby and Bush Intercontinental Airport.
On Wednesday a traveler in the Bush Intercontinental Airport was detained by Houston Police for questioning after making comments about carrying explosives. Reports state that the man was making comments about having explosives in his backpack because he was impatient with waiting in a line.
The Houston Airports Systems spokesman Bill Begley says, “No explosives were found and no flights were effected.” Two dozen travelers in the active terminal were taken to another terminal, while authorities were examining his bag.
Today, a security check-point in William P. Hobby airport was briefly evacuated after finding what appeared to be a grenade through a security screening.
The U.S. Transportation Security Administration officials spotted the suspicious looking device in a passenger’s bag going through the x-ray machine. After immediate evacuation the Houston Police Department’s bomb squad investigated, determining that the suspicious grenade was in fact a toy.
These instances show that National Security is doing more to ensure the safety of travelers and that they are taking all threat seriously. Check out the video above for more on these Houston bomb scares.
