Weekend Of Sports
Georgia’s impressive record and performances will be worth your time if you decide to tune in to the Bulldogs’ SEC opener on Saturday against high-powered Missouri (12 p.m. ET, ESPN). The Bulldogs (3-0) have to deal with Mizzou quarterback Drew Locke, a likely top-10 pick in the 2019 NFL draft. The faster the pace set by Missouri (3-0), the tougher it is for Georgia.
In a matchup of Top 25 teams, No. 22 Texas A&M takes on No. 1 Alabama (3-0). 3:30 Saturday on CBS. A&M (2-1) can raise the tempo with its spread offense, but Bama QB Tua Tagavailoa is proving to be up to every challenge in front of him.
For you East Coast residents, here’s a reasonable hour (8 p.m., ABC) to see a pair of ranked teams in No. 7 Stanford (3-0) vs. No. 20 Oregon (3-0). Stanford has Heisman Trophy candidate Bryce Love at running back, while the Ducks are allowing 1.96 yards per carry.
Check local listing for NFL teams in your area, but be aware of these matchups: The Dallas Cowboys (1-1) at the Seattle Seahawks (0-2) pits a team that may be finding its offense (Cowboys) against one wholly dependent on QB Russell Wilson. This one’s on Fox at 4:25 p.m. Later in the evening, the surprisingly beatable New England Patriots (1-1) meet the always beatable Detroit Lions (0-2. NBC, 8:20 p.m.
NASCAR’s playoffs roll into their second week and visit Richmond Raceway for the Federate Auto Parts 400. Saturday, 7:30 p.m., NBC Sports Network.
The Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club is one of the highlights of the PGA Tour’s end of season, and after Thursday’s first round Tiger Woods was tied for first. The third round Saturday is on NBC from 2:30-6 p.m, and the final round Sunday is on NBC from 1:30-6 p.m.
That should keep you busy. So plant that heiner in the recliner, relax and enjoy.
